A significant search operation was concluded following the reported incident of a crew member falling overboard from the German AIDAperla cruise ship off the coast of Kent.
The incident occurred during the early morning of October 22 and prompted HM Coastguard's response at ~9 AM BST (~8 AM UTC) on Sunday, with the man having gone missing near Ramsgate (England).
The HM Coastguard coordinated the search efforts, which were terminated at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The operation involved the deployment of a rescue helicopter from Lydd, along with a Beechcraft King Air (fixed-wing plane) to aid in the search effort. Additionally, the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) dispatched lifeboats from both Ramsgate and Dover to assist in the operation.
