During a recent CCL-Carnival Cruise Line voyage from Long Beach/LA, California to Catalina Island CA, passengers were met with an unexpected incident on their first night aboard.
A water line malfunction occurred between decks on the Carnival Radiance, leading to flooding on the deck below. According to social media posts by two passengers, it was reported that it took approximately four hours for assistance to arrive and address the significant issue.
A spokesperson from CCL stated that the flooding resulted from a 'burst water line' affecting 'an area of the ship that constitutes less than 2% of its staterooms'. The ship's crew promptly took action to clean the affected area, and the damaged pipe was repaired.
This accident took place during the early hours of October 17, 2023, marking the first night of a 4-night cruise departing from Long Beach, California. The ship had set sail from Long Beach the previous evening, with planned stops at Catalina Island on October 17 and Ensenada Mexico on October 18. After a day at sea, Carnival Radiance returned to Long Beach on Friday, October 20.
