AIDAsol embarked on her first World Cruise on Friday evening, October 27, departing from Port Hamburg (Germany) with around 2000 passengers on board.
This marks AIDA Cruises' 5th Around The World Voyage leaving roundtrip from Hamburg.
Furthermore, AIDAsol's recent visit represents the 111th call of an AIDA ship at Port Hamburg in 2023. By year-end, AIDA's fleet will have made a total of 124 calls (with 9 vessels), accounting for nearly half of all cruise visits along the River Elbe.
As a farewell gesture, a special show on the Elbe River awaited both guests and crew around 8:00 p.m. AIDAsol conducted a ceremonial lap of honor in front of Hamburg's iconic Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall before departing from Hamburg, the renowned gateway to the world, illuminated by a dazzling display of projected lights.
After a 117-day voyage, the ship will return to the Hanseatic city on February 21, 2024.
Guests and crew have a splendid itinerary ahead, with stops at 42 ports in 20 countries across 4 continents, including two equator crossings. Notable destinations include Cape Verde and Tierra del Fuego, Tahiti and Fiji, Mauritius, and Southern Africa. The holiday season will find world cruise guests enjoying the pristine, snow-white beaches of Vanuatu in the South Pacific.
In Sydney NSW Australia, they will have the privilege of welcoming the New Year early, experiencing a magical celebration set against the iconic backdrop of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Additionally, with calls at Mystery Island (Vanuatu) on December 26, 2023, and Lifou (New Caledonia) on December 27, 2023, guests can anticipate exciting island specials during their journey.
