A search operation is in progress following an overboard incident from an NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line ship, the Norwegian Pearl, as it was heading back to PortMiami Florida USA during a "Headbangers Boat" voyage.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday while the ship was in the vicinity of the Bahamas, en route to Miami. The US Coast Guard is actively involved in the search for the 41-year-old passenger who went overboard.
The cruise line spokesperson stated that the investigation is ongoing, with updates to follow as needed. The cruise line extends its thoughts and prayers to the individual's loved ones during this challenging time.
The Norwegian Pearl was on a roundtrip voyage from Miami to Nassau and back to Miami as part of the "Headbangers Boat" cruise, which featured performances by various metal bands including Lamb of God, Mastodon, and Gwar.
The cruise set sail on Halloween and was scheduled to return to Miami on Saturday morning.
