Cunard's Transatlantic ship RMS Queen Mary 2 is currently undergoing drydock maintenance at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (in Rotterdam Holland).
After the last stop in Hamburg Germany (October 22nd), the ship proceeded directly to Rotterdam, entering drydock on October 23rd. Expected to resume guest operations on November 16th, QM2 is undergoing routine maintenance works and classification inspections.
The drydocking project encompasses various tasks, including hull cleaning and repainting. Accessibility to critical components such as the propeller, stabilizers, and bow thrusters allows for essential maintenance in these areas. Simultaneously, interior renovations are being carried out on the Queen Mary 2.
In contrast to the extensive shipyard stay in Hamburg in May 2016, which involved substantial renovation and the installation of new cabins, the current stay in Rotterdam is comparatively less extensive.
Damen Shiprepair is expected to complete all required work on the Queen Mary 2 in the coming days, with the vessel set to return to guest service in Southampton England UK on Thursday, November 16th.
Following the drydock, QM2's first voyage will be a 3-day roundtrip to Zeebrugge Belgium, starting on November 19, 2023. Pn November 19th, the ship starts a North Atlantic crossing to NYC New York USA. After a 12-day Caribbean cruise (roundtrip from NYC), QM2 will once again cross the Atlantic to return to homeport Southampton.
