DCL-Disney Cruise Line celebrated the opening of its cruise terminal at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale on Monday, November 13, marking the line's second year-round homeport in Florida.
Disney Dream is scheduled to commence sailings from Port Everglades on November 20, with Disney Magic following suit on May 9, 2024. Both ships will offer a variety of 3-, 4-, and 5-night cruises to destinations in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
The newly revamped terminal, located at Port Everglades' Terminal 4, features vibrant murals showcasing characters from the animated film "Finding Nemo" to greet arriving guests.
Sharon Siskie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of DCL, characterized the grand opening as "an incredible milestone" as they embarked on the largest expansion in their cruise line's history.
In December 2021, DCL and Broward County announced a 15-year agreement outlining a minimum of 10.6 million passenger movements at Port Everglades, along with the option for three 5-year extensions. As per the agreement, one ship is set to homeport in Port Everglades year-round starting in the fall, with a second seasonal ship joining in 2025.
