Leading the charge in sustainable maritime development, PONANT has chosen the Syroco EfficientShip platform to drive the design and digital modeling of its groundbreaking Swap2Zero initiative, dedicated to the creation of a new era of zero-emission vessels.
Utilizing a digital twin powered by physics and artificial intelligence, the Swap2Zero project aims to simulate and optimize the ship's components, assessing energy consumption and minimizing emissions. As the first transoceanic ship concept aspiring to achieve carbon neutrality during all phases - sailing, maneuvering, in port, or at anchor - the vessel's carbon footprint will be consistently reduced throughout its life cycle.
Scheduled for completion by 2030, Swap2Zero will harness renewable energy from wind and solar sources, coupled with fuel cells and carbon capture devices. Positioned as a trailblazer in sustainable energy solutions, the project holds significant replicability potential.
PONANT's strategic collaboration with Syroco EfficientShip, a Climate Tech startup specializing in maritime energy transition, underscores the commitment to Swap2Zero's success. Through advanced simulations, the platform aids in selecting technologies that optimize the ship's energy efficiency, validating propulsion systems and carbon reduction objectives.
The Syroco EfficientShip platform creates a digital twin of the ship, seamlessly merging physics and artificial intelligence. This twin serves as a dynamic model for efficiency and performance across various configurations, factoring in design, operational, and environmental parameters to minimize energy consumption and emissions.
