Hurtigruten Norway is reintroducing 3 distinct itineraries that capture the essence of Nordic culture and the celestial marvels of the European Arctic.

The Norwegian cruise and ferry company offers two land and sea expeditions exploring Finland's northern regions and Norway's coast, while the astronomy-themed voyage unveils the scientific wonders above.

The 15-day "Follow the Northern Lights: Land and Sea Tour" starts from Helsinki Finland and following Hurtigruten's classic Coastal Express ferry route continues down to Bergen Norway. With multiple departures between November and March (2024), guests delve into the enchanting Finnish Lapland, experiencing husky dog and reindeer safaris, exploring the history of the Sami people, crossing the Arctic Circle, and engaging in traditional fishing and hunting activities, all under the optimal backdrop of the Aurora Borealis. The cruise segment commences in Kirkenes, guiding guests through picturesque fjords and charming fishing villages, offering a rich blend of natural beauty, music, snowmobile excursions, and heritage museums.

The 15-day "Follow the Midnight Sun: Land and Sea Tour" mirrors the Northern Lights itinerary but is scheduled for June and July (2024). Beginning with a ferry ride from Stockholm Sweden to Helsinki, the tour then ventures overland to Finland's northern regions before embarking on the Coastal Express voyage to Bergen. Passengers enjoy almost 24 hours of summer light, exploring cultural highlights, husky and reindeer adventures, Sami culture, and the beauty of Norwegian fjords.

The 12-day "Follow the Stars: Astronomy Voyage" (November 2023, January and February 2024) starts from Bergen and goes along the Norwegian coast. Renowned astronomers provide lectures and guided night sky tours, covering topics such as the Northern Lights, stars, planets, meteors, and the myths and legends associated with constellations. The voyage visits 34 ports, 100+ fjords, 1000+ mountains, and offers optional excursions to natural treasures and historic landmarks.

Part of all three itineraries, the Original Coastal Express has traversed this route for 130 years, visiting 34 ports and providing optional excursions to enhance the cultural experience. As part of the rebrand announced in September, Hurtigruten Norway will revert to its original name, Hurtigruten, maintaining the iconic moniker that has symbolized the 'fast route' since its inception in 1893.
