The port of Trondheim (Norway) anticipates concluding the year with a total of 108 cruise ship calls and ~177,000 passengers, with the final call scheduled for December 6.

Among these calls, two were directed to Hitra, incorporated into the port on January 1, 2023, and three to Froya. This year, Trondheim Port Authority invested in new polyurethane fenders and implemented a steel plate upgrade to support Yokohama fenders. The new fenders, known for leaving no stains on the cruise ships' sides, facilitate smoother mooring, reducing the frequency of ship painting and contributing to environmental conservation.

The port authority is actively seeking funding to install shoreside power at its main cruise quay. Currently providing shore power at the smaller quay to companies like Hurtigruten Expeditions and Mystic Cruises, the port aims to expand the offering to its main quay, pending approval.

The earliest operational date for the new facility is projected to be in 2026, with the capability to accommodate vessels of various frequencies (50 Hz and 60 Hz) and provide up to 12mW.

By the year-end, Trondheim Port Authority plans to unveil a new excursion manual, featuring full-day tours outside Trondheim and the reintroduction of the popular home visit program "Visit Bjorn," recognized for its culinary and entertaining experiences.

Looking ahead, Trondheim is set to host two significant events in the future: the 2024 Hosting of the Cooking Championship Bocuse D’or (following the city's recognition as the European Region of Gastronomy in 2022) and the 2025 Hosting of the FIS World Ski Championship.
