Carnival Corporation's luxury brand/subsidiary Princess Cruises is poised to overhaul the onboard guest experience through the introduction of its new application. This advanced application, named the Princess Cruises app, is designed to replace the outdated MedallionClass app, presenting passengers with an array of enhanced features and functionalities.
The launch of the new app coincides with the implementation of Starlink internet across the Princess Cruises fleet, positioning the cruise line as a technological leader. These advancements contribute to the brand's strategic goal of reinforcing its status as a globally advanced and customer-focused cruise line.
Initially scheduled for release on December 1, 2023, a slight delay in development has shifted the launch date by a few days. Passengers can now anticipate downloading the app from Google Play and the App Store in the coming days, marking a step toward an improved cruising experience.
The new app is part of Princess Cruises' strategic initiative to enhance guest interaction and convenience. Featuring streamlined navigation, intuitive service access, and a updated user interface, the Princess Cruises app aims to provide a high level of functionality and usability. Notable changes include the rebranding of services such as "Dine My Way" to "Reservations" and "JourneyView" to "My Journey," aligning the app more closely with guest preferences.
Existing MedallionClass app users will experience a seamless transition to the new app, as their profiles and preferences will be automatically migrated. The MedallionClass app will remain operational until February 2024 for cruises during that period, after which it will be retired.
In conjunction with the app launch, Princess Cruises introduces Starlink Maritime internet, promising to revolutionize internet connectivity at sea. Starlink equipment has been deployed on several Princess Cruises ships, including Discovery Princess, Grand Princess, Royal Princess, Sky Princess, and Sapphire Princess, with additional installations planned. This integration aims to deliver high-speed and reliable internet service, addressing connectivity challenges associated with the older MedallionClass system.
