The Norwegian cruise ship Maud encountered navigation difficulties in the North Sea, attributed to damage inflicted by the Pia storm.
Amid storm warnings in the United Kingdom on Thursday, the vessel, en route from Floro Norway to Tilbury-London UK, experienced navigation challenges due to the adverse conditions caused by the Pia storm.
Maud, carrying 266 passengers and 131 crew members, faced blown-out windows, power outages, and potential water ingress into the command bridge.
Edward Middleton, head of the rescue operation, provided insights into the situation, emphasizing that the Danish rescue service conducted the rescue operation.
Currently, the vessel is being manually navigated, replacing its electronic systems, ensuring a stable situation on board.
Despite the challenges, there were no reported serious injuries on board, according to the shipowner Hurtigruten Expeditions.
