ACL-American Cruise Lines, with a legacy spanning 50+ years in river and small-ship cruising, has unveiled plans for the construction of 5 additional ships.

These vessels, slated for delivery within the next 2 years, complement the 3 ships the company received this year.

Focused on the USA source market, the new fleet will feature a combination of riverboats and coastal catamarans, reinforcing ACL's presence on both coasts and emphasizing the Mississippi and Columbia Rivers.

As a pioneer in the industry, ACL has been a key player in commissioning the majority of American-built cruise ships.

Operating the world's only fleet of 100% USA-flagged vessels, the company is renowned for providing luxury experiences across 35 states, exploring the rich history, spirit, and culture of the United States. Notable amenities include private balconies, expansive sundecks, and multiple lounges with panoramic views.

Charles B. Robertson (ACL's President and CEO) expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the fleet, stating that after several years of building the coastal fleet, they were once again ready to begin building out the U.S. River cruise capacity.

By 2024, ACL aims to operate 19 ships, encompassing riverboats, coastal catamarans, and paddlewheelers, each accommodating a modest 90-180 passengers. These vessels will navigate 50+ domestic itineraries. The construction of the new ships will take place at Chesapeake Shipbuilding (in Salisbury MD), with additional details, including schedules, expected to be revealed in 2024-Q1.
