CCL-Carnival Cruise Line, with its lively Fun Ships attracting guests from the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, as well as California, has played a pivotal role in achieving significant milestones for Amber Cove Dominicana, and Ensenada Baja Mexico, as both destinations surpassed the one millionth cruise tourist mark by the end of 2023.
Late in December, each destination commemorated the achievement by welcoming and acknowledging the one millionth visitor, accompanied by their families. The Collier family, arriving from Mardi Gras on December 20, were honored as special guests in Amber Cove. Meanwhile, the Andrus family, arriving aboard Carnival Radiance on December 27, marked a noteworthy milestone in Ensenada. Local dignitaries, ship leaders, and other guests joined forces at each port to celebrate this significant occasion.
Amber Cove, situated on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic just outside Puerto Plata, received its inaugural Carnival ship in 2015. Operated by CCL's parent company, Carnival Corporation & plc, the cruise port is an island paradise offering amenities such as pools, bars, and a plethora of shore excursion opportunities, including snorkeling and waterfall adventures.
Ensenada, one of Mexico's original seaside getaways, has been a staple in Carnival's itinerary for nearly three decades. From historical sightseeing to exhilarating ATV riding, Ensenada caters to diverse interests. CCL guests savor the vibrant city's delectable cuisine and explore nearby wine country, immersing themselves in local traditions.
CCL's commitment to Ensenada is reflected in its seasonal sailings from San Francisco and year-round departures from Long Beach, California. The upcoming addition of Carnival Firenze in April 2024 will provide more options for West Coast travelers, featuring 4-day cruises to Catalina Island and Ensenada, as well as five-day Mexican Riviera cruises calling in Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada. Named after Florence, Italy, Carnival Firenze will offer Carnival Fun Italian Style experiences, enhancing the cruise line's diverse fleet.
