China's first domestically-built large cruise ship, the Adora Magic City, completed her inaugural commercial journey on Sunday, January 7, covering an impressive 1119 NM (2072 km) during her 7-day, 6-night voyage. Departing from the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal on January 1, the vessel docked at Seogwipo (Jeju island) in South Korea, as well as at Japan's port cities Nagasaki and Fukuoka, before returning to homeport Shanghai.
Adora Magic City not only provided a delightful cruising experience but also integrated cultural enrichment. Experts from the Dunhuang Academy delivered four lectures, showcasing the art of Dunhuang grottoes and introducing a digital exhibition co-hosted by the cruise and the academy. Guests enjoyed the sea journey while marveling at replicas of the artistic treasures of Dunhuang.
Built by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd, the Adora Magic City boasts impressive specifications. With a length of 323.6 meters, a gross weight of 135,500 tonnes, and accommodation for up to 5246 passengers in 2125 staterooms, the vessel stands as a remarkable addition to China's maritime fleet. Featuring 16 floors and 40,000 m2 of public living and recreational space, the cruise ship offers a luxurious and expansive environment for passengers.
Operated jointly by CSSC Cruise Technology Development Co Ltd and Adora Cruises Limited, the Adora Magic City marks a significant milestone in China's cruise industry, blending state-of-the-art technology with cultural appreciation on the high seas.
