HX/Hurtigruten Expeditions has unveiled its 2025-2026 season, introducing new ports, landings, and itineraries across five continents. With 80+ itineraries planned, the focus remains on key expedition regions such as Alaska, Antarctica, Greenland, and the Northwest Passage. Building on its inaugural season in West Africa (November 2023) and the successful addition of 3 new Galapagos Islands itineraries in 2023, HX expands its footprint in warm waters.
The upcoming Greenland season, the largest-ever for HX, will feature additional sailings with the inclusion of the 4th vessel, MS Spitsbergen. Leveraging Nuuk's new airport, set to open this year, HX will launch 4 itineraries, including 3 "Grand Greenland" voyages starting and ending in Nuuk. The new port aims to reduce transit time, enabling immediate immersion in Greenland's wildlife and scenery. Enhanced community engagement along Greenland's west coast is anticipated, building on the partnership between sister brand Hurtigruten and Arctic Umiaq Line.
Iceland sees two new itineraries with departures from Reykjavik, marking HX as the first cruise company to connect to shoreside electricity in Iceland. In 2025, HX introduces four new Arctic Canada sailings originating from or concluding at the new port in Nuuk, Greenland, offering Northwest Passage crossings and increased cultural engagement with Arctic Canada's indigenous communities.
Antarctica remains a focal point with 50 departures, the largest-ever offering facilitated by the addition of MS Maud. HX's "Science & Education" program, set to donate 1,100+ cabins and support numerous projects in the upcoming Antarctic season, plans to welcome new research partners in 2025.
The archipelago of Svalbard is explored in spring through the "Svalbard in Spring – Return of the Sun" itinerary, delving into rarely explored areas above the Arctic Circle. MS Roald Amundsen, the battery hybrid-powered ship, continues her 5th season in Alaska, enabling access to remote ports.
HX is set to return to West Africa, exclusively sailing the archipelagos of Cape Verde and the Bissagos Islands. The development of new programs focused on engaging and supporting local communities is guided by input from members of HX's Black Travel Advisory Board.
