The Miami-Dade Beacon Council has collaborated with MSC Group to announce the development of MSC's new facility in Downtown Miami.
MSC Group, with a US$100 million investment, plans to consolidate ~250 South Florida-based employees from MSC Cargo, MSC Cruises, and Explora Journeys within a new state-of-the-art facility in Block 55 at Sawyer’s Walk.
MSC Cargo (MSC's container shipping division) has had a presence in Miami-Dade for 25+ years, and now, as part of the Group's commitment to Miami, MSC Cruises is relocating to establish the Cruise Division’s North American headquarters.
The 130,000-f2/12080-m2 office space is designed to support the ongoing expansion of MSC Cruises and the recently launched Explora Journeys in the North American market, facilitating their growth alongside MSC Cargo. According to the economic impact analysis conducted by Miami-Dade County, MSC Group's investment is expected to generate 668 direct and indirect jobs over the next three years, contributing US$65.2 million annually in recurring direct economic impact (Gross Regional Product) to the local community.
The Cruise Division is solidifying Miami as its new operational base and is concurrently constructing a new cruise terminal at PortMiami, poised to become North America’s largest upon completion later this year. The terminal will feature a four-story building capable of accommodating 36,000 passenger movements per day and provide berthing space for three latest-generation ships simultaneously.
Identifying MSC Group as a suitable match for Miami-Dade's cruise and cargo operations, The Beacon Council, in collaboration with Cushman & Wakefield, assisted in the company's search for a new North American Cruise Division headquarters and office space for MSC Cargo's South Florida operations. The decision to invest in Downtown Miami was influenced by the region's robust labor pool and appealing business environment.
