In the 1970s, while in Egypt, Geoffrey Kent (Abercrombie & Kent's founder) had a visionary encounter at the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract (Aswan) during the filming of Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile.”
Engaging in discussions with British actor James David Graham Niven (1910-1983) over dinner, Kent conceived the idea of crafting riverboats that would redefine luxury on the Nile, featuring panoramic windows, opulent marble detailing, and even a swimming pool.
In 1977, A&K initiated its inaugural Nile cruise, marking the commencement of a legacy. Fast forward to the present, and Kent is set to elevate the experience further by announcing the construction of the company's 5th Egyptian riverboat.
Currently being built at Egypt’s Massara Shipyard (Cairo), the vessel aims for its inaugural voyage in the fall of 2025.
The new riverboat will boast 32 passenger staterooms, each adorned with floor-to-ceiling windows and Juliet-style balconies. The interiors will feature luxurious marble bathrooms and 400-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets. Notably, the two Presidential Suites will offer exclusive private sundecks equipped with outdoor hot tubs.
Onboard amenities encompass an indoor and outdoor restaurant, a spa, a gym, a spacious sundeck with a swimming pool, and communal spaces.
Promising the "most immersive Nile cruise experience yet," A&K emphasizes the hand-picked crew of Egyptian experts who will contribute to making the journey a privileged gateway into the mysteries of the exotic country.
Among the exclusive VIP experiences available are after-hours access to the Pyramids of Giza and private dinners within ancient temples, enhancing the allure of this upcoming Nile cruise.
