American Glory, the second catamaran-type vessel in American Cruise Lines/ACL's fleet of 100-passenger Coastal Cats, was officially christened in Key West, Florida on Jan 15th.
The naming ceremony marked a significant event at Mallory Square, a docking location for the ship during the Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruises, operating roundtrip from St. Petersburg.
The celebration included various attendees such as local dignitaries, community members, cruise guests, and port and marina officials. Charles B. Robertson, President & CEO of American Cruise Lines, delivered remarks and introduced the Honorable Teri Johnston, Mayor of Key West, as the Godmother of American Glory.
The event featured remarks from Arlo Haskell of Safer Cleaner Ships and Albert Childress, Key West City Manager. The Victory Belles provided patriotic music, and the ceremony concluded with the ship's official blessing and the traditional bottle smash.
American Glory's christening follows the August 2023 christening of the series flagship, American Eagle, in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. American Glory will continue her Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruises through March 2024 and later in November and December. Another sister ship, American Legend, is set to join American Glory later in the year, also offering Florida Gulf Coast & Keys cruises starting in November.
The growing demand for the company's new small ships and exclusive 100% U.S. itineraries has been noted nationwide. American Cruise Lines has introduced 18 of the 21 U.S.-built cruise ships launched in the past two decades. Throughout 2024 and 2025, American Glory and her sisterships will operate various itineraries exploring the East Coast from Maine to Florida.
Designed for just 100 guests, American Glory features 5 decks and a distinctive catamaran bow. The Coastal Cat boasts elegant interior design, private balcony accommodations, a beautiful top deck for stunning views, comfortable indoor and outdoor lounges, a main restaurant, casual cafe, and a fitness center.
