On Saturday, January 27, RCI-Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas successfully navigated back to the port of Galveston Texas USA, following her journey through a storm in the Gulf of Mexico on January 26th.
The ship was en route back to homeport when she encountered adverse weather conditions on the final day of a 5-day Western Caribbean voyage.
Passengers aboard shared accounts and footage of the storm's impact on social media.
Reports indicated flooding in some passenger staterooms and public areas. Deckchairs were displaced across the pool deck due to strong winds, prompting the crew to close all outdoor areas as a safety measure.
Despite the challenges, the crew effectively managed the situation with professionalism. While some cabins experienced damp carpets, prompt cleanup efforts were implemented.
Minor injuries were reported among a few passengers, primarily within the ship's casino (deck 4) as a result of the storm's impact on slot machines.
