ACL-American Cruise Lines has announced the commencement of their exclusive American Revolution cruises for the current year. These unique voyages traverse the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River, and the York River, with departure and return from Washington DC.
In 2018, the American Constitution, one of the company’s smaller vessels, made history by being the first to dock in D.C. after a hiatus of 6+ decades. Throughout 2024, the American Revolution cruises will continue this legacy by being the only voyages on the Potomac River.
ACL's 2024 cruises are set to depart from The Wharf (along Washington DC's southeast waterfront). The American Revolution itinerary is carefully crafted to explore the Chesapeake Bay region, calling at its most renowned ports of call including Yorktown, Mount Vernon, Annapolis. Guests are treated to an immersive experience, discovering the quaint towns and historic cities that have played pivotal roles in shaping the history of the United States.
Operating in both spring and fall of 2024, these voyages offer select early spring dates coinciding with Chesapeake Bay's Cherry Blossom season. The first voyage, departing on March 26, 2024, promises this enchanting experience. Onboard, guests can indulge in curated entertainment and enrichment activities, complemented by regionally inspired cuisine featuring Maryland’s renowned Blue Crabs.
The itinerary, both onboard and ashore, showcases the area’s rich historical significance and natural splendor. Highlights include visits to the cities of the “Historic Triangle” – Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown – as well as excursions in Washington, D.C., encompassing guided tours of iconic landmarks such as the Capitol and the district’s renowned Smithsonian museums. Guests also have the opportunity to explore Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad exhibit, and even embark on an authentic “Skipjack” excursion through the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, among other enriching experiences.
The 2024 American Revolution cruises are offered aboard two distinct vessels: the 170-passenger American Constitution and the 100-passenger American Glory, the latter being one of the Line’s latest Coastal Cats.
Embarking and disembarking from Washington, D.C., the 11-day, 10-night cruises feature stops at Annapolis, MD; St. Michaels, MD; Cambridge, MD; Norfolk, VA; Williamsburg/Yorktown, VA; and Mount Vernon, VA. Additionally, the itinerary includes visits to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, Historic Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Arlington, and Old Town Alexandria.
Select dates in Spring 2024 currently offer savings up to US$1500 off and complimentary airfare. Guests can also take advantage of pre-cruise hotel stays at the Four Seasons, D.C., as well as packages that include a visit to the Smithsonian’s latest exhibit, Entertainment Nation, showcasing Judy Garland’s iconic Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz, presented by ACL.
