The Nassau Cruise Port in The Bahamas, known as the Caribbean's leading cruise destination, achieved a remarkable milestone in 2023, welcoming a record-breaking 4.4 million cruise passengers.

This historic achievement follows the completion of a comprehensive US$250 million port renovation project, which introduced notable enhancements such as the addition of a Junkanoo Museum and a new concert venue. The port experienced its busiest day on December 27, accommodating 29,316 passengers in a single day.

Initial projections had anticipated 4.2 million arrivals for the year, highlighting the port's surpassing performance.

The Bahamas continues to thrive within the cruise industry, boasting not only the highest volume of cruise traffic in the region but also serving as the primary destination for numerous private islands owned by major cruise lines. Notable examples include Disney's Castaway Cay and Royal Caribbean's Coco Cay.

Cruise operators remain bullish on Nassau and The Bahamas, with Royal Caribbean spearheading the development of yet another private island destination adjacent to the Nassau Cruise Port on Paradise Island.

These developments, combined with the ongoing rejuvenation efforts in downtown Nassau, underscore Nassau Paradise Island's rising prominence within the broader Caribbean cruise market.

“The newly revitalized Nassau waterfront offers unique finds, fantastic entertainment, and delicious food and drinks, with even more on the horizon for 2024,” said Mike Maura, CEO of Nassau Cruise Port.
