SAGA Cruises is set to enhance its river cruise offerings with the introduction of a newbuild boat in July 2025 - Spirit of the Moselle.

Construction on the ship commenced in January 2024, marked by the traditional keel laying ceremony held at Vahali shipyard in Serbia.

Spirit of the Moselle will share similarities with the sisterships Spirit of the Rhine (2021-launched) and Spirit of the Danube (2022).

With a capacity for up to 182 guests across 95 cabins (73 French balconies), the Spirit of the Moselle will feature a lounge area and bar with floor-to-ceiling windows. Additionally, the restaurant will offer panoramic views, with a more intimate dining space located at the ship's rear. The sun deck will boast loungers and seating, complemented by a lower sun terrace.

Sergej Tocili, Director of River Product for Saga, expressed confidence in the vessel, stating that Spirit of the Rhine and Spirit of the Danube had proven to be a great success with their guests, and he expected Spirit of the Moselle would continue the same high-quality travel while allowing them to explore a wider range of rivers.

During the inaugural 2025 season, Spirit of the Moselle will navigate Europe's inland waterways, including the Main River in Germany. Itinerary highlights will encompass destinations such as Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Bamberg, and the UNESCO-protected Rhine Gorge.

Nigel Blanks ((Saga Cruises' CEO) said:

“The team and I are thrilled to see this exciting next step in our growing river cruise offering. I’m looking forward to welcoming guests onboard for the first time in 2025 to enjoy the levels of service, value and exceptional experiences our guests have come to expect from Saga.”
