Stena Line boosts freight capacities with new Dublin-Birkenhead route amid record volumes

Stena Line, the Swedish ferry operator, has officially launched its new freight service from Dublin (Ireland) to Birkenhead (England). This addition aims to increase the company's freight volumes, building on its successful year in 2023 for Irish Sea services.

This new service marks Stena Line's seventh route in the Irish Sea region, complementing existing routes such as Belfast - Cairnryan, Belfast - Heysham, Belfast - Liverpool, Dublin - Holyhead, Rosslare - Fishguard, and Rosslare - Cherbourg.

Paul Grant, the Trade Director for the Irish Sea at Stena Line, expressed excitement about the launch, highlighting the significance of securing this vital trading route across the Irish Sea. He emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency by expanding their operational hubs in both Dublin Port and 12 Quays in Birkenhead. The current vessel deployed for the route is the Stena Horizon, with plans to confirm a permanent solution soon to optimize freight capacity and trade volumes.

Phil Hall, the Port Director at Peel Ports Group in Liverpool, expressed delight in supporting this new freight route, underscoring the longstanding partnership between Peel Ports Group and Stena Line. He emphasized how this collaboration enhances trade opportunities, efficiency, and capabilities for customers.
