Windstar Cruises, renowned for its small ship luxury experiences, has unveiled its inaugural “President’s Mystery Cruise” scheduled to embark on April 19, 2025.
This 8-day journey is tailored for members of the Windstar Yacht Club, esteemed repeat patrons of the cruise line, and their companions. Departing from and returning to Athens (Piraeus, Greece), the itinerary deliberately keeps the ports of call undisclosed, adding an element of intrigue for guests sailing aboard Windstar’s 312-passenger Star Legend, an all-suite vessel.
The specific destinations will be revealed to guests only 24 hours before arriving at each port. Upon disclosure, Windstar travelers will have the opportunity to select from a range of shore excursions available at the destination.
Windstar promises an array of novel and exhilarating experiences during this voyage. Christopher Prelog, President of Windstar, anticipates a journey encompassing mostly uncharted territories for the cruise line.
Prelog will be present aboard the Star Legend, as this “Mystery Cruise” coincides with the company’s annual President’s Cruise, offering guests a unique opportunity to engage with the leadership of this intimate, boutique cruise line known for its unconventional approach.
Speaking about the genesis of this innovative concept, Prelog recalls the inspiration drawn from a recent sailing to Tahiti & the Tuamotu Islands onboard the Star Breeze. During this voyage, Tropical Cyclone Nat necessitated a swift alteration of the ship’s course, prompting the onboard team to devise an entirely new itinerary to circumvent the adverse weather conditions. The enthusiastic response from guests, coupled with their adventurous spirit, propelled the leadership to embrace this concept, giving rise to the “Mystery Cruise.”
Prelog views this initiative as a revival of the innate sense of adventure inherent in travel. It caters to guests who relish spontaneity and seek an unconventional cruise experience devoid of meticulous planning.
