Nassau's cruise port witnessed a historic moment on Tuesday, March 12, as a record-breaking 7 ships docked at the recently renovated downtown port.
20,000+ passengers disembarked from vessels such as Carnival Liberty, Vision of the Seas, Disney Wish, Independence of the Seas, Sea Cloud Spirit, Carnival Paradise, and Carnival Elation.
This milestone was achieved just 10 months after the grand opening of the revamped Nassau Cruise Port last spring. The updated port features various amenities, including an amphitheater, a Junkanoo Museum, and 6 upgraded berths capable of accommodating the largest cruise ships worldwide.
Marques Williams, the port's operations manager, described the occasion as historic for The Bahamas and Nassau Cruise Port, highlighting the collaborative effort involved. He credited the Nassau Harbour Pilot Association for their exceptional navigation skills in handling the influx of vessels.
The bustling port is emblematic of Nassau's revitalization, reflecting the capital's resurgence over the past decade. The downtown area boasts a pedestrian-friendly environment with numerous attractions, complemented by the addition of new hotels such as the Margaritaville Beach Resort and the recently reopened British Colonial Hotel.
