DCL-Disney Cruise Line commemorated the keel laying ceremony of its upcoming vessel, the Disney Destiny, at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, slated for completion in 2025. Scheduled to be part of the TRITON-class fleet, the Disney Destiny follows its sisterships, the Disney Treasure, expected for delivery later this year, and the Disney Wish, which commenced service in 2022.
With a weight of 140,000 gross tons, the Disney Destiny is crafted to captivate guests with a thematic concept inspired by Disney's classic narratives such as The Lion King, Hercules, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. This thematic approach endeavors to honor Disney's rich heritage by immersing guests in beloved characters and stories within a novel maritime environment.
Sharon Siskie, DCL's Senior VP and General Manager, conveyed enthusiasm for Disney Destiny's contribution to the company's ongoing dedication to family-oriented cruising. Siskie emphasized that Disney Destiny would celebrate their most iconic tales and characters, presenting them in fresh and engaging ways exclusively for Disney cruisers.
Alongside the sisterships Destiny and Treasure, DCL anticipates the inclusion of the Disney Adventure to its fleet in 2025.
Originally commissioned for Genting Dream Cruises and currently under construction in Germany, the Disney Adventure was acquired by Disney Group following Genting's insolvency in 2022. Noteworthy as the sole Global Class vessel within the fleet, Disney Adventure boasts a max passenger capacity ~6000 and showcases cutting-edge methanol propulsion technology.
Upon relocation to Asia, the vessel is slated to commence its cruise operations from Singapore's Marina Bay.
