Port Malaga delegation emphasized its upcoming hosting of the international cruise fair in the Mediterranean during Seatrade Cruise Global, gathering industry professionals to discuss market trends.
Following this significant gathering, Malaga will host the upcoming Seatrade Cruise Med in September 2024, marking the first time the Mediterranean destination has repeated as host. Carlos Rubio, President of the Port Authority, along with the Malaga delegation comprising the City Council, Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Andalusian Government, Malagaport Foundation, and Suncruise Andalucсa, reminded cruise companies and professionals of this upcoming event.
Rubio expressed the honor and responsibility of hosting the event again, highlighting the success of the previous edition and the collective effort needed for another successful event.
Jacobo Florido, Delegate Councillor of Tourism and City Promotion for the City Council of Malaga emphasized the city's objective to attract cruise companies to establish Malaga as a home port, promoting increased airline interest such as the Malaga-Miami FL USA flight connection.
Esperanza Gonzalez, Delegate of Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol, highlighted the region's appeal to cruise companies, showcasing the destination's cultural richness, safety, connectivity, and lifestyle.
The event, supported by Seatrade and Medcruise, aims to gather the global cruise community on September 11th and 12th at the Trade Fair and Congress Centre of Malaga.
Key entities supporting the event include Ports of Spain, Global Ports Holding, Malaga Cruise Port, CitySightseeing, Suncruise Andalucсa, and Malagaport Foundation.
The previous edition in 2022 saw above-average attendance, with expectations for Seatrade Cruise Med 2024 including over 2,000 attendees from 80+ countries and 180+ exhibiting companies.
Seatrade Cruise Med will showcase Malaga and the region as premier cruise destinations, contributing to Spain's prominence in European cruise tourism.
During the event, the Malaga delegation engaged in discussions with major cruise companies to strengthen relationships and showcase port and destination offerings, focusing on infrastructure, services, and international airport connectivity crucial for establishing Malaga as a leading home port in southern Europe.
