Alaska's newest cruise port Klawock celebrated the inaugural arrival of Seabourn Odyssey ship with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on May 6.
Situated near the Tlingit village of Klawock on Prince of Wales Island's Pacific side, this Indigenous-owned port is a joint endeavor of Na-Dena', comprising Alaska Native corporations Huna Totem and Doyon, Limited, along with Klawock Heenya, the Native village corporation of Klawock.
The port's development aims to enhance Alaskan cruise market flexibility and enrich guest experiences through cultural engagements and sustainable practices.
Port Klawock is dedicated to offering an authentic Alaskan encounter to all visitors arriving at its single-ship port. Equipped with a floating tender dock, welcome facilities, light retail featuring Alaska Native arts and crafts, and shore excursion dispatch services, the port ensures a seamless experience.
Approaching the port, cruise ships navigate between two fjord entrances, treating guests to breathtaking views of mountains and lush landscapes. At the port, guests can partake in guided shore excursions and access a shuttle service to Klawock and Craig, operated by Alaska Coach Tours - a Na-Dena' subsidiary. Moreover, the port connects via bridge to Prince of Wales' road network, facilitating travel to neighboring communities and island attractions.
