CCL-Carnival Cruise Line concluded the inaugural Fleet Week festivities in Miami Florida and ushered in Mother’s Day weekend by demonstrating support and appreciation for the military through a special ceremony aboard Carnival Conquest on Friday, May 10.
During the event, Vera Lannek, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and vice president of strategic sourcing for Carnival Corporation, expressed sincere gratitude for the women's military service. Carnival Conquest Cruise Director Stjepan Neral led the acknowledgment of military branches, with each military member receiving a commemorative challenge coin from Carnival as a token of appreciation. The program also highlighted the contributions of military teams involved in sea rescues.
Fleet Week is an annual tradition celebrating the significant contributions of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Fleet Week Miami, running from May 5 to May 12, features a range of community outreach activities and events, including concerts by Navy and Marine Corps bands, guided ship tours, and ceremonies honoring service members.
Carnival's commitment to honoring the military extends to every voyage, with regular military appreciation gatherings and dedicated Military Appreciation Day events across the fleet. In 2023, Carnival hosted 1,500+ military gatherings attended by tens of thousands of guests fleet-wide.
