HX-Hurtigruten Expeditions has introduced an exciting new Northern Norway itinerary, “Ultimate Norway – Arctic Expedition Under the Northern Lights,” inspired by the Norwegian concept of Friluftsliv, or open-air living.
This immersive 7-night journey, scheduled to launch in January 2026 during the peak of the aurora season, focuses on exploring Norway's natural wonders and cultural heritage above the Arctic Circle. Departing and returning from Tromso aboard MS Spitsbergen, the itinerary will traverse 4 iconic regions: the Lyngen Alps, Senja, Lofoten, and Vesteralen, across 10 sailings from January to March 2026.
Guests can anticipate a comprehensive all-inclusive experience, including unique activities such as bonfires under the polar night, private evenings at the Hurtigruten Museum in Stokmarknes, and traditional Scandinavian sauna sessions followed by polar plunges.
The adventure offers a diverse range of activities, from kayaking and whale watching to nature walks, alpine treks, snowshoeing, community visits, and ski touring, promising an enriching and varied expedition.
MS Spitsbergen, accommodating 160 guests, provides an intimate and comfortable atmosphere with Scandinavian-inspired decor, cozy cabins, expansive public spaces with panoramic views, an observation deck, Science Centre, and two restaurants.
Guests will enjoy all-inclusive amenities such as three daily meals, beverages, sauna access, fitness facilities, and comprehensive expedition gear. The package also covers gratuities, daily excursions, Wi-Fi, and professional onboard photography.
With long winter nights devoid of light pollution, this expedition offers ideal conditions for witnessing the Northern Lights. HX’s Northern Lights Promise ensures that if the aurora is not seen during the cruise, guests will receive a Future Cruise Credit towards a new HX voyage.
