Construction of China's second domestically-built large-scale cruise ship of CSSC-China State Shipbuilding Corporation is underway at Drydock 2 of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co, showcasing the rapid advancement of China's shipbuilding capabilities in the realm of ocean vessels.
The project marks a significant milestone in the development of massive passenger ships.
Following docking, construction efforts will focus on hull assembly, outfitting, and interior work. It is projected that by 2025, cabin installation and outfitting will be completed, with plans for the ship to undock in March 2026.
Sea trials are scheduled to commence in June 2026, with delivery in December 2026.
This second domestically-built large cruise ship measures 341 meters (1119 ft) in length, 37.2 meters (122 ft) in width, and boasts a total tonnage exceeding 140,000 tons. At the assembly site, the 3-tiered main component platform has been fully formed and is progressing into the painting and coating stage.
The vessel (Adora Flora City) is designed with expanded dimensions (compared to the sistership Adora Magic City), advanced facilities, and enhanced amenities compared to its predecessor.
Featuring numerous dining, entertainment, and accommodation areas, including 2144 passenger staterooms, the ship incorporates state-of-the-art shipbuilding technologies, machinery, electronics, and communication navigation systems, as described by project personnel.
