The Liverpool Waterfront will host a grand celebration on June 3rd, as the renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli performs to mark Queen Anne ship's maiden call to its spiritual home.
The singer will share the stage with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and artists from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts for a special naming ceremony.
The naming event will be hosted by musician Matt Willis and TV presenter Emma Willis. They will be joined by special guests and the official Godparent, who will christen Queen Anne with the traditional smashing of a Champagne bottle against the hull of Cunard’s 249th ship. The ceremony will culminate with a performance by Andrea Bocelli.
Following the ceremony, the celebration will feature additional performances by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, and DJ Lauren Lo Sung. Craig Charles will then take over with a funk and soul set, leading up to the grand finale of dazzling fireworks as Queen Anne departs.
The event is expected to attract thousands of attendees, marking another milestone in Cunard's storied history. Past events, such as the QE2's maiden call in July 1990 and the 2015 Three Queens 'royal rendezvous' for Cunard's 175th anniversary, have drawn over a million spectators to the banks of the Mersey.
