After years of meticulous planning and construction, DCL-Disney Cruise Line has officially opened its second private island resort Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera Island (Bahamas). The grand opening event, held on Thursday, May 30th, brought together local officials and community members to celebrate this milestone.
Disney Lookout Cay is the result of a collaborative effort between DCL and numerous Bahamian contributors, including artists, historians, and cultural experts. This unique Caribbean retreat immerses guests in Bahamian culture and heritage through its artistic designs, architectural styles, and various entertainment options provided by local performers. The island also features nature trails and pristine beaches, showcasing the natural beauty of the Bahamas.
The opening celebration took place at the vibrant, Junkanoo-inspired Goombay Cultural Center. Speeches were delivered by DCL leadership and notable Bahamian officials, including Prime Minister Hon. Philip Davis, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation Hon. I. Chester Cooper, and Minister of Works and Member of Parliament for Central and South Eleuthera Hon. Clay Sweeting.
The event also featured a performance by local Junkanoos, including winning teams from this year’s Junior Junkanoo competition from Tarpum Bay Primary and Preston H. Albury High School in Eleuthera.
