Turkish shipbuilder Meyer Turku has delivered the Mein Schiff 7 to German cruise line TUI Cruises. This vessel is the 7th in the Mein Schiff series constructed at the Turku shipyard, marking a significant milestone in their ongoing partnership.
Production of Mein Schiff 7 began with the steel cutting ceremony at the Turku shipyard on June 14, 2022. Less than 2 years later, the ship has been completed and handed over to TUI Cruises.
Mein Schiff 7 is notable for being the first in the Mein Schiff fleet to operate exclusively on low-emission marine diesel, featuring a maximum sulfur content of 0.1%. It is equipped with a shore power connection and catalytic converters, and has been built to accommodate methanol fuel. This adaptability positions Mein Schiff 7 to achieve near CO2-neutral propulsion with future green methanol.
This vessel is also the first with methanol capability constructed at Meyer Turku. The ship's delivery is particularly significant for TUI Cruises, which has a history of acquiring Blu Motion class ships from the Turku shipyard over the past decade, resulting in 6 vessels by 2019.
Mein Schiff 7 will now sail to Kiel, where it will welcome its first guests on June 12.
