Star Clippers has announced the integration of high-speed Starlink WiFi across its fleet, enhancing internet connectivity for guests and crew on all three of its vessels. Utilizing SpaceX’s Low Earth Orbit satellite technology, this upgrade provides consistent and reliable internet access, even in the most remote regions previously lacking stable service.
Mikael Krafft, owner and president of Star Clippers, highlighted the significance of this upgrade, stating that the rollout of Starlink onboard their ships underscores their commitment to providing reliable connectivity at sea. Krafft added that their sailing ships often visit remote ports and small islands, making it crucial for guests and crew to stay connected with their loved ones and maintain robust operational systems onboard.
Starlink connectivity will be available on the sailships Royal Clipper, Star Flyer, and Star Clipper, with various usage packages offered for purchase. Options include a 1GB plan for EUR18 valid for seven days, a 3GB plan for EUR50 valid for 14 days, and a 5GB plan for EUR80 valid for 21 days.
For over three decades, Star Clippers has been pioneering tall ship sailing experiences to remote destinations in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Central America. The fleet includes Star Clipper and Star Flyer, traditional clipper ships equipped with modern amenities, each accommodating 166 guests. The Royal Clipper, with a capacity of 227 guests, holds the Guinness World Record as the largest and only 5-masted, full-rigged sailing ship currently in operation.
The ships are renowned for their expansive teak decks, swimming pools, casual dining options, tropical deck bars, and piano lounges.
