HX-Hurtigruten Expeditions is marking 131 years of navigating the iconic Norwegian coastline with a North American Birthday Sale from June 25 to July 16, 2024.

Since July 2, 1893, Hurtigruten has operated nearly the same 34-port route as its Original Coastal Express Voyages, establishing one of the world’s most distinctive itineraries. In 2023, the cruise line introduced the Svalbard Line and the North Cape Line, offering an elevated cruise experience with extended day stops, showcasing Norway’s premier coastal towns and attractions.

These new routes are part of Hurtigruten’s Signature Voyages, which provide a premium experience featuring all-inclusive food and beverages, enhanced onboard activities, and comprehensive lecture series by the Coastal Experience Team.

To commemorate 131 years of service, Hurtigruten is offering up to 50% off Original Coastal Express Voyages and up to 35% off Signature Voyages for departures in the 2024-2025 season. Additionally, guests can save up to 15% and receive up to 5,000 Norwegian kroner (~US$450) when booking for the 2025-2026 season. The Original Coastal Express Voyages, largely unchanged since their inception on July 2, 1893, cover the route from Bergen to Kirkenes and back, encompassing 34 scenic coastal communities set among renowned fjords, islands, and mountains. These itineraries have been vital to the coastal communities from the beginning, offering an authentic Norwegian travel experience.

Hurtigruten’s Signature Voyages, the cruise line’s newest offering, aim to significantly enhance the Norwegian cruising experience and redefine small-ship sailing. The Svalbard Line, sailing in the summer, allows passengers to follow in the footsteps of early explorers to the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. The North Cape Line, operating in the winter, takes passengers deep into the northern landscape to view the Northern Lights.

Driven by customer feedback and inspired by the golden age of ocean liners, these new voyages allow guests to delve into Norway’s heritage, gastronomy, and stunning landscapes like never before.

Earlier this year, Hurtigruten introduced Tom Kerss as the world’s first Chief Aurora Chaser and extended the Northern Lights Promise for the 2024-2025 season and beyond. The Northern Lights Promise reaffirms Hurtigruten’s commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for guests to witness the Northern Lights. This unique guarantee ensures that if the Northern Lights do not appear during their voyage, guests will receive a complimentary 6- or 7-day voyage to try again the following season.
