Crystal Cruises has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. This agreement signals the commencement of construction on two new ocean ships.
The new vessels, with a capacity of 690 passengers (based on double occupancy) and a volume/gross tonnage of 61800 tons, will boast a range of amenities and cutting-edge designs, ensuring exceptional comfort and indulgence for guests. The design efforts will be led by prominent architectural firms Studio Ibsen, under the direction of Prof. and Architect Adriana Granato, and Studio Gem, headed by Naval Architect Giacomo Mortola and Naval Engineer Lorenzo Mortola. An additional international design firm will also be appointed.
The interior design will incorporate high-end materials such as precious marble, Italian fabrics, and natural elements, offering a level of sophistication typically reserved for upscale private residences. A notable feature will be a promenade extending around the entire perimeter of the ships, similar to the popular promenades on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, providing guests with scenic ocean views.
The culinary offerings on board will include a variety of world-class dining options, featuring Umi Uma, the only Nobu restaurant at sea, and the recently announced Beefbar. Crystal will also continue its tradition of exclusive entertainment and sophisticated gaming, with a well-appointed casino offering a variety of gaming options.
Wellness and relaxation will be central to the new ships, with a comprehensive spa and state-of-the-art fitness center available to all guests. Families traveling with children will benefit from a dedicated area designed for engaging activities and safe play.
All-suite accommodations will feature private verandas, including a popular single-occupancy category with verandas for solo travelers. The ships will maintain a high crew-to-passenger ratio, ensuring personalized service and attention to detail.
The first ship is expected to be delivered in the spring of 2028, with the construction and delivery timeline for the second ship to be announced later.
This announcement follows A&K Travel Group's acquisition of Crystal in 2022, marking a new era for the cruise line. Under A&K Travel Group’s leadership, Crystal has focused on enhancing its offerings both at sea and on shore, and expanding its fleet to provide unparalleled experiences for its guests.
Crystal has also secured an option to build a third sistership, with delivery anticipated in 2032.
