Norovirus outbreak prompts later boarding for P&O's Ventura ship

Passengers scheduled to board the Ventura ship, which recently experienced a norovirus outbreak, have been advised to arrive later than usual to allow for enhanced cleaning procedures.

The vessel is scheduled to depart from Southampton on Saturday, June 28th, at 19:00 BST for a 10-night voyage to Iberia/Spain and Portugal.

Port health officials boarded the ship on May 25th after several passengers fell ill during a 2-week cruise around the Canary Islands.

P&O Cruises UK has announced that embarkation, typically beginning at midday, will be delayed by 2 hours to facilitate thorough sanitation efforts.

P&O spokesperson said that was "an additional measure given the elevated levels of gastrointestinal symptoms in the UK as a whole at the moment."

"We work closely with relevant global and regional health authorities and we have approved, recognised and proven protocols that are in place throughout every cruise to uphold the health and wellbeing of all guests and crew onboard."

The latest Ventura cruise is listed as sold out.
