Port Canaveral/Orlando (Florida USA) has once again achieved Green Marine re-certification, highlighting its dedication to environmental excellence in port operations. This marks the 8th consecutive year that the Port has received this certification from the international organization. The award was presented at the GreenTech2024 environmental conference in Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada).

Green Marine encourages voluntary measures to enhance environmental performance continuously. The certification process is rigorous, involving the development of guiding principles that go beyond regulatory compliance in key areas such as managing aquatic invasive species, reducing greenhouse gases and air pollutants, spill prevention, stormwater and waste management, underwater noise, community impacts, and environmental leadership. Performance is assessed through an annual self-evaluation and a biennial third-party verification, aimed at increasing awareness of the marine industry’s activities and environmental benefits.

Green Marine is an international certification program that includes ports, terminal operators, shipyards, and shipowners.

Port Canaveral has been a part of the Green Marine program since 2016.
