Viking Vesta, the latest cruise ship under construction by Fincantieri for Viking, was floated out at the Ancona shipyard on July 5th. The float-out ceremony was attended by Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking Cruises, and Gilberto Tobaldi, Ancona shipyard director of Fincantieri. This significant milestone marks the ship's initial contact with water and her transition into the final outfitting phase.
Set to enter service in the summer of 2025, Viking Vesta will offer itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. Classified within the small cruise ship segment, the vessel will have a volume of ~54300 GT-tons, feature 499 cabins, and accommodate 998 passengers.
Viking Vesta, along with its sistership Viking Vela, scheduled for delivery in autumn, will join Viking OCEAN's fleet, all constructed by Fincantieri over the past 12 years.
Recently, Fincantieri and Viking signed a contract for two additional sisterships to Viking Vesta, further solidifying their partnership, which now includes a total of 20 units.
Viking ships are designed to comply with the latest navigation and safety regulations and are equipped with high-efficiency engines and systems that minimize exhaust gas pollution, meeting the strictest environmental standards.
