Georgian Railway Management (GZD), representatives from Bulgarian Railways (BDZ), and the Bulgarian maritime company P.N.A LTD have signed an agreement in Tbilisi to restore ferry traffic on the Black Sea, according to a report from the Georgian Railways press service.
Preparatory work for this restoration has been underway since the beginning of the year, following a two-year suspension of the ferry service. The press office notes that all conditions for the resumption of ferry operations have now been agreed upon by the parties involved.
The ferry and rail connections between Bulgaria and Georgia are crucial for the logistics of goods transported across the Black Sea. The restoration of this service is expected to boost freight traffic and enhance the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, also known as the “Middle Corridor,” according to Georgian Railways.
