AIDA Cruises' ship AIDAdiva has inaugurated Sweden's shore power as the first vessel to connect at Port Stockholm.
The shore power/cold ironing system, developed over 2 years, saw AIDA Cruises as a key project partner.
Dirk Inger, AIDA’s Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Communication & Sustainability, stated that with their shipboard investments, they are actively supporting the European Union’s goals to build a shore-side power infrastructure in ports.
AIDA Cruises has integrated shore power technology into its ship construction since 2004.
In April 2022, AIDA signed a declaration of intent with Cruise Baltic, a network of 32 ports and destinations, to utilize shore power across the Baltic Sea region.
The cruise line aims to achieve net-zero emissions in its fleet by 2050.
