Following multiple delays over ~3 months, the new cruise brand Villa Vie Residences has announced a revised inauguration date.
The start-up company disclosed that the Villa Vie Odyssey ship, formerly operating as MS Braemar for Fred Olsen UK, will depart with an adjusted itinerary on July 30th.
The ship has now floated following significant drydock delays caused by a rudder stock issue. Equipment testing and certification are required before the vessel can finally leave the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast Ireland.
Originally scheduled to launch in mid-May, and later rescheduled for July 20th, the ship has had to amend the inaugural itinerary, primarily affecting the initial segment of this 3,5-year long world voyage.
Villa Vie stated that due to recent changes in their embarkation schedule, they have made some adjustments to ensure an enriching journey for all their residents.
The company's CEO (Mikael Petterson) addressed the ongoing delays and technical issues in a video message to booked residents earlier this month. While the rudder stock issue caused the postponements, Petterson highlighted the progress of the ship's renovated interiors, which were nearly complete before the July 20 launch date.
A Villa Vie resident reported that as of Friday, July 26th, the ship's technical testing agencies had not yet completed full certification but expected to do so by the end of the weekend. All guest hospitality areas, from staterooms to dining facilities, are ready to accommodate residents.
Villa Vie Residences will visit 425 ports of call and offer two payment options: villa ownership or "pay as you go" rental per cruise segment, ranging from 35 to 120 days in duration.
