CCL-Carnival Cruise Line has embarked on a multi-year partnership with the Leagues Cup, North America's premier professional soccer tournament, becoming the event's official cruise line partner.
This groundbreaking tournament brings together 47 clubs from Major League Soccer (MLS) and LIGA MX for 77 matches over the course of the next month. The Leagues Cup is the first tournament of its kind in soccer history, celebrating the rich cultural exchange within North American soccer.
As the official cruise line partner, Carnival Cruise Line will enhance the fan experience with a presence both in-stadium and on television during live games, as well as through digital initiatives. This includes a co-branded online content series specifically created for the Leagues Cup's social media channels.
The Leagues Cup, which kicked off with a series of matches this past weekend, will culminate in a final championship match on August 25th.
According to Amy Martin Ziegenfuss, chief marketing officer at Carnival, "anyone who watches a professional soccer game knows the stadium is filled with high-energy fun," which is the kind of environment they love at Carnival and a good reason why many soccer fans board their ships.
"Teaming up with the Leagues Cup is a great opportunity to bring our Carnival fans together with another fervent fan base, further building on our alignment with the kinds of sports we know our guests love."
Carter Ladd, executive vice president and chief revenue officer at Major League Soccer said that partnering with Carnival allows them "to merge the excitement of soccer with the joy of travel and adventure."
"Together, we are committed to enhancing the tournament experience and creating unforgettable memories for fans across North America."
