The Disney Fantasy ship docked at Roseau Port in Dominica on Tuesday, July 30, bringing 3,500+ passengers to the island.
This visit marked the ship's 4th call to Dominica since the inaugural arrival in 2022. Upon disembarking, passengers explored the capital city's local offerings, engaging with vendors and purchasing handmade items, as well as sampling local cuisine and beverages.
The Dominica Ministry of Tourism highlighted the occasion on its official Facebook page, noting that since making its inaugural call to Dominica back in 2022, this marks Disney’s 4th visit to the beautiful island.
Before arriving in Dominica, the Disney Fantasy made stops in Antigua and Saint Lucia. From Dominica, the voyage will continue its journey to DCL's Bahamian private island resorts Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay.
The 2012-launched vessel is the fourth cruise vessel operated by DCL/Disney Cruise Line, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. As part of the DREAM class, the Fantasy offers a variety of amenities, including the Aqua Duck water coaster, enchanted art displays, the Animator’s Palate dinner show, and themed events like pirate party nights.
Disney Fantasy’s visit during the off-season provided a significant boost to the local economy, underscoring Dominica’s growing reputation as a premier cruise destination in the Caribbean. The visit is part of the 2023-2024 cruise season, which began on October 30, 2023, with the arrival of TUI's Mein Schiff 4.
Tourism authorities anticipate that this off-season visit will contribute to a higher-than-expected number of visitors, potentially surpassing earlier projections of ~222 cruise calls and 363,063 passengers. This would represent a notable increase of 17% in calls and 47% in passengers compared to the previous year.
A key highlight of the season is the expected 13 inaugural calls, demonstrating international cruise lines’ growing confidence in Dominica as a desirable destination. Throughout the season, the island has warmly welcomed visitors from around the world, showcasing the rich culture and natural beauty of the "Nature Isle."
