8 Legs Run Club: Virgin Voyages launches new fitness initiative at sea

Virgin Voyages is set to introduce its inaugural onboard running club, the 8 Legs Run Club (8LRC), this fall. Open to all passengers, regardless of experience level, the club offers an opportunity to maintain fitness routines or enjoy a leisurely run while connecting with other health-conscious travelers.

The 8LRC will be available across Virgin Voyages’ fleet - Resilient Lady, Valiant Lady, and Scarlet Lady - featuring organized runs on the ships’ tracks and destination runs with the Happenings Cast.

A Virgin Voyages spokesperson they’re always exploring new ways to enhance their wellness offerings, and this fall, they’re encouraging Sailors to hit the running tracks with the first-ever Run Club. Inspired by Sir Richard Branson, an avid runner, Virgin created the 8 Legs Run Club for Sailors who love to run and connect with others who share their passion.

The concept for 8LRC was inspired by extraordinary achievements of Virgin Voyages passengers earlier this year. On Resilient Lady, one guest completed a full marathon - 26.2 miles - on the ship’s 836-foot-long track, The Runway, located on Deck 17. Another guest, participating in a charity event, ran for 24 hours straight on The Runway, covering 639 laps, which equates to nearly 160 miles.

The 8LRC will offer group runs and training sessions led by experienced fitness professionals, ensuring that participants receive the support and guidance they need. Additionally, the club will extend its offerings to port destinations, where guests can join organized runs, providing a unique way to explore the locales on their cruise itineraries.

In addition to launching the 8LRC, Virgin Voyages has partnered with SoulCycle for the “Seas the Ride” summer campaign, running through September 4, 2024. The campaign features themed rides at 61 SoulCycle studios, with participants having the chance to win a cruise on Virgin Voyages.
