Princess Cruises introduced MedallionNet Max, a new tier of shipboard Wi-Fi service designed to cater to the increasing needs of today's digitally connected travelers. This enhanced service will be available exclusively to guests purchasing the Princess Plus (US$60) and Princess Premier (US$80) beverage packages.
Since 2018, Princess has been at the forefront of providing high-performance onboard Wi-Fi, leveraging the latest satellite technologies and installing access points in every stateroom fleetwide. The company is the only cruise operator to utilize a comprehensive array of bandwidth sources, including LEO (Starlink), MEO, GEO satellite constellations, and 5G terrestrial networks, ensuring seamless and reliable connectivity for its passengers.
The new Wi-Fi offering will include two service tiers: MedallionNet Classic and MedallionNet Max.
MedallionNet Classic will continue to provide the same dependable service and global coverage that passengers have come to expect.
MedallionNet Max, on the other hand, will deliver the highest level of connectivity available, with prioritized access to the fastest and most robust bandwidth, typically provided by Starlink. This premium service tier is designed to enhance the overall cruise experience and will be available only through Princess' bundled packages.
Pricing for the existing MedallionNet Classic remains unchanged, with options for single-device plans at US$24.99 per day and multi-device plans at US$44.99 per day. Guests will automatically receive the appropriate service level based on their package selection, with no need to navigate different networks or adjust settings.
In conjunction with the launch of MedallionNet Max, Princess is also hosting a unique land/sea user-generated content (UGC) competition. Set within a custom Minecraft world (called "Princess Cruises Nautical Quest"), the event on August 7 will feature 32 of the world's top UGC players, including 8 gamers on the Enchanted Princess ship in the Caribbean, competing against 24 others playing from home. This innovative event is expected to draw millions of viewers online.
