On Tuesday evening, August 13th, the Caribbean Princess ship, operated by Princess Cruises, stopped off the coast of the Isle of Wight (Cowes, England) following a medical emergency involving a passenger.
At ~6:00 p.m., the vessel halted near Ryde as a helicopter, along with the Sandown Lifeboat and the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent, responded to the situation. The helicopter was observed circling the ship before landing to assist.
The Caribbean Princess had departed Southampton at 4:30 p.m., bound for Iceland, with an expected return on August 29th.
By Wednesday morning, August 14th, the ship was anchored off the coast of Falmouth, Cornwall.
This incident follows a similar medical emergency last month on the Regal Princess ship. The Regal Princess, carrying 3000+ passengers, was diverted to Falmouth to evacuate a sick passenger after leaving Southampton the previous day.
