Resorts World Cruises has announced that the Genting Dream will begin using Port Malacca/Melaka as a gateway to Kuala Lumpur/Klang for its 2-night cruises departing from Singapore on Sundays, starting November 10, 2024.
This development offers passengers the unique experience of dual visits to both Malacca and Klang/Kuala Lumpur, with extended port stay time from 10 to 12 hours, allowing ample time for exploration.
The Genting Dream will anchor near Malacca, providing scenic views of the beaches and landscape. Passengers disembarking at Malacca will have the opportunity to enjoy a short tender boat ride up the Melaka River to the modern Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS). From there, it is a brief 15-minute walk to downtown Malacca (UNESCO World Heritage Site) known for its red colonial buildings in Dutch Square and the vibrant Jonker Street, famous for its shopping, dining, and entertainment. Alternatively, passengers can take Melaka riverboats to explore the historic port city, featuring architecture influenced by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British eras, along with mural artworks, parks, and colorful shops along the riverbanks.
Additionally, passengers will have the option to embark every fortnight on Mondays from Malacca via the ICQS Complex, combining Malacca with a one-way 3-night Malacca-Singapore-Penang-Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang) cruise.
Inbound cruise passengers can also travel from Malacca to Kuala Lumpur, which is located just a few hours away.
