The new travel brand Transcend Cruises, a UK-based, charter-only river cruise line/shipowner, has entered into a construction agreement with Den Breejen Shipyard for the delivery of its first river cruise vessel. The initial ship is scheduled for completion in 2025-Q4, with a second vessel anticipated in 2026, pending further financing.

The ships’ design has been developed in partnership with Tillberg Design of Sweden.

Targeting the affinity market, tour operators, travel advisors, and meeting and incentive planners, Transcend Cruises aims to provide a fresh alternative to traditional land-based conferences and events along Europe’s rivers.

With a length of ~143 ft (~44 m), the boats will feature spaces and services tailored specifically for group charters. Each vessel will accommodate max 120 passengers in 60 identical staterooms, which can be paired and converted into 2-room suites, allowing flexibility for groups ranging from 30 to 120 attendees.

As a B2B-focused platform, Transcend Cruises will equip its ships with advanced technology to enable charter clients to enhance their brand presence through customizable elements such as digital signage, custom lighting, sound, and imagery. Sustainability is a cornerstone of Transcend’s approach, reflected in the ship’s construction, onboard experiences, and eco-friendly features. These include stage-five, low-emission engines, an electric thruster system for emissions-free maneuvering, food waste minimization technology, and a commitment to local staffing and sourcing.
